INTERTEC makes specialized, custom-colored enclosures for protecting outdoor electronic/electrical equipment at airports - including frangible shelters, cabinets and enclosures for navigational systems, radar and runway lighting/electrical equipment.
In addition to passive safety, INTERTEC enclosures offer advanced protection and lifecycle attributes to infrastructure designers thanks to construction from unique composite GRP materials.
Metal is commonly used for outdoor enclosures. INTERTEC's composite GRP is almost as strong as stainless steel, yet some 75% lighter. This is ideal for protecting equipment and meeting frangibility guidelines: the construction is designed to yield or break on impact, given its low mass. It offers exceptional resistance to corrosion, as GRP does not rust or degrade in any significant way. This allows maintenance-free lifecycles of up to 30 years. Advanced coatings protect against extreme levels of UV, and abrasion - for longevity in dusty or sandy locations. Another advantage are very high thermal resistance and embedded insulation which reduce the energy needed to heat or cool the installed equipment.
Regarding the area of application, it should be noted that GRP is transparent towards radio waves, which means that they can freely pass through the walls.
INTERTEC offers standard housings and custom services that allow designers to optimize heights and profiles in order to minimize any potential obstacle. Options include fire safety, heat resistance, proof against storm/blast/earthquake, explosion proof, antistatic/UV/corrosion resistance, up to IP68 ingress protection, active, passive and hybrid cooling, wireless friendly construction, EMC shielding and more.
